Abstract

Basilar artery dissection are very rare, clinical entity which usually result in brain stem ischemia or subarachnoid hemorrhage. The prognosis is very poor and most of the reported cases were fatal.
We recently experienced a case of basilar artery dissection presenting with internuclear ophthalmoplegia and perioral paresthesia which resolved after several days with conservative management and anticoagulation. This clinical manifestation was
thought
to be due to brain stem transient ischemia because he recovered completely. The cause of the dissection might be the vigorous neck movement to take off the wet shirt. We present the case with brain MRJ, MR angiography and digital substraction
vertebrobasilar arteriography.
